This summer, our administrative office had the pleasure of sharing our space with three amazing interns! We are so grateful that they chose to spend their summers with us, and we wish them the best of luck in their next adventures.
Read on to hear from them about what their experience with us.
Anna Lund, Development Intern
Hello! My name is Anna Lund and I was the Development Intern at A Noise Within this summer. Much of my job included contacting donors, help prep for the Costume Runway Show, and logging ticket sales, just to name a few tasks. I really felt involved in ANW’s office environment and I learned so much about the arts administration process! I gained a lot of knowledge about how a successful workplace operates and how each person plays into that process. I’m so thankful I got to work with the staff of ANW this summer and I’m excited to see them progress in the future.
Emily DeBoer, Marketing Intern
Hi! I’m Emily DeBoer; I spent this summer (2017) as the Marketing Intern here at A Noise Within through the Intern LA program at Occidental College. As the marketing intern some of my main tasks were working on Photoshop projects, updating and creating content for our social media accounts and our website, and assisting with event outreach. There is also a lot of freedom in the position though and a lot of tasks that were more open-ended, like researching other plays/orgs, looking into websites that could help improve our marketing performance, or playing around with our Google ad campaigns. I learned so much from everyone during my time here, everyone is very willing to take time to sit down with you as an intern and always open to answering questions. The office environment is super fun, I feel like everyone is always happy and every once in a while I had tasks like jumping in a pile of tulle or playing with props and mannequins. Though it was a fun and lighthearted atmosphere, I feel like I gained a lot of professional and office experience this summer as well and I got an idea of what a career in marketing and/or a career in the arts could look like for me. I’m so glad I was given this opportunity this summer, it was truly a great experience!
Rachael McNemara, Education Intern
This summer, I had the exciting opportunity to work with the Education Department at A Noise Within. I have been interested in arts education and arts administration for a while, and this summer I was able to explore the intersection of those two fields. My favorite part of the summer was working with the Summer with Shakespeare acting camp. Throughout the five-week camp, I was able to see first-hand the positive impact arts education programs have on students–it was wonderful to see how every student who attended Summer with Shakespeare grew as artists and individuals over the course of the summer. My internship with A Noise Within this summer has been incredibly rewarding– it has inspired me to seek out career opportunities in arts education!
