There is something about A Noise Within’s production of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol that keeps it exciting and alive for me. One would think that after several revivals of the holiday masterpiece it would get old. It hasn’t! On the contrary it feels like a beautifully wrapped Christmas present to again be part of such an extraordinary tale of transformation.

Perhaps it’s the stellar cast filled with old friends and new acquaintances. Perhaps it’s the time spent with children and their families after the show, taking pictures and sipping punch. Perhaps it is the salute and celebration, for both actor and audience, of the better angels that reside in each of us. Perhaps it is all of these and more.

A Noise Within’s production of A Christmas Carol strikes me as a communal acknowledgement—through one man’s journey from the darkness into the light—that real and lasting change in possible. Hallelujah Indeed!
