Behind the Scenes: Our Spring Season Photo Shoots

By A Noise Within
January 28, 2019

Get sneak peeks to our spring lineup! Come behind the scenes with us for our three photo shoots and explore the the preliminary visions of OthelloThe Glass Menagerie, and Argonautika, and learn how they will translate to the live stage.

Thwarted love erupts tenfold in Shakespeare’s visceral, intimate tragedy of Othello – tearing apart friends, partners, lovers – and leaving devastation in its wake. Director Jessica Kubzansky is embracing not only the romantic love between spouses Othello and Desdemona, but also the brotherly love between Othello and Iago that, when disrupted, leads to terrible personal tragedy. With this in mind, our photo shoot focused on a sense of closeness among Othello, Desdemona, Iago, and Iago’s wife Emilia.

Meanwhile, our family of artists behind the scenes is now becoming a family on our stage. Our Resident Artists are coming together to revive Tennessee Williams’ poetic tale of love and loss and family, The Glass Menagerie. The trio playing the Wingfields – Erika Soto, Rafael Goldstein, and Deborah Strang – all had photo shoots depicting them in the glowing, dreamlike memory-scape that was first envisioned by Williams.

Finally, Trisha Miller geared up as the goddess Athena for our Greek-inspired photo shoot for Argonautika. We had to pull all the stops – hair, make-up, costumes, and, of course, a couple of giant fans to dramatically blow through her hair through the wind. The result was a stunning introduction to Mary Zimmerman’s modern retelling of the Greek myth of Jason and the Argonauts.
