WITH ANW: Debut! Pecola, The Bluest Eye

 Akilah Was most recently seen on stage in the world premiere of Marty & The Hands That Could at Waco Theater Center. Akilah holds an MFA in acting from American Conservatory Theater & a BA in theatre from Fordham University. Akilah has been seen on stage at Classical Theatre of Harlem, New York Stage & Film, and Berkeley Repertory Theatre to name a few. Outside of acting Akilah is a director/writer/producer and co-founder of Good Mother Films.  Akilah was named “Best First Time Director (Female)” by The Independent Shorts Awards for her directorial debut short film Ivar Tunnel: Shook Ones (IT:SO) which gained distribution and made its television debut on the REVOLT. Akilah is a 2022 Directing Fellow in the  NALIP/Netflix Latino Lens Women of Color Narrative Short Film Incubator for Pedacito de Carne a short film raising awareness for dementia and millennial caregivers. Originally an Atlanta native, she now proudly calls Los Angeles home.
