Your gift helps support our vital education program Classics Live!, which partners with educators to enhance language arts and integrate the performing arts into the curriculum. Amidst 85% cuts in arts programs for LAUSD schools, this partnership becomes ever more essential for the next generation.

Our annual fund contributors are the reason we continue to tell riveting stories that excite, challenge, and inspire our community. Ticket revenue covers only half of the cost to produce world class theatre in the collaborative tradition of rotating repertory with a resident company of professional artists, while dedicating 30% of our operating budget to our growing education programs.

Donating appreciated securities such as stocks or mutual funds is a smart and easy way to support A Noise Within. Gifts of stock and securities can be used for annual fund gifts or to fulfill pledges. Just as with cash gifts, you will receive a federal income tax donation for the full market value of any securities you donate as long as you have owned them for at least one year. You may also avoid the capital gains taxes you would owe if you sold these securities. The information provided here should not be construed as tax or legal advice. According to IRS regulations, the donor has both the right and responsibility for valuing noncash contributions. Typically, donated securities are valued at the mean between the high and low prices for the securities on the gift date. The gift date is the date that the securities pass unconditionally from the donor’s control to A Noise Within.
TRANSFER INFORMATION
By law, a gift of securities is complete once the donor has relinquished control of the securities to A Noise Within. The date of the gift will be recorded as the date the stock was transferred electronically by the donor, bank or brokerage firm to A Noise Within’s account or the date it was re-registered in A Noise Within’s name by a transfer agent.
Before making your gift of stock to A Noise Within, we request that you or your broker inform the development department of the gift being made by calling 626.356.3103 or emailing development@anoisewithin.org to provide the following information:
- Name of the stock
- Number of shares to be gifted
- Donor Name
- Donor Contact Information
This will help ensure proper and timely acknowledgment of the gift. Because all electronic stock transfers arrive in A Noise Within’s account without any donor names attached, we will only be able to properly identify the donor associated with a stock gift if we have this information.
