Stay active and have fun in the theatre with Summer With Shakespeare camp – a conservatory-style program of acting, improvisation, stage diction, text analysis, kinetic exercises, and stage combat led by classically-trained, professional actors, choreographers, and designers!
Campers gain an appreciation for Shakespeare’s verse and unique exposure to a variety of classic comedies, tragedies, and history plays. This three-week intensive – designed for ages 10-18 – challenges young artists to be scholars and performers of The Bard: enhancing acting and public speaking skills, building self-confidence on the stage, and gaining experience in the crafts of the theatre.
- 3 fun-filled weeks of acting, stage-combat, costuming, and more!
- Demystify Shakespeare with classes led by professional acting coaches
- Meet fellow young artists through ensemble scene work
- Master the language through monologues
- Get crafty with the art of mask-making and more!
- Take charge of the stage in stage-combat workshops
- Perform on ANW’s main stage, just like the professionals!
Participants will be placed in age appropriate groups and perform for an audience on our main stage in a culminating presentation of scenes and monologues from Shakespeare’s plays.

This enthralling course is designed to give budding actors the tools to generate authentic connections to dramatic texts, and to create believable and emotionally rich characters. Young Actor’s Workshop (YAW) covers the basic foundations of acting, including given circumstances, objectives, sense memory and recall, and how to effectively use improvisation and pantomime.
Participants in YAW are assigned scene work and improvisational exercises, and the course culminates in a presentation of memorized monologues or scenes. YAW incorporates multiple age levels in order to provide the necessary structure in order to provide students the opportunity to learn from each other’s work. This course is a foundation for the study of acting, and it is expected that the course will be repeated several times in order to deepen the understanding of acting technique and to delve more deeply into scene work.
