Teen Monologue Festival
Announcing the return of the A Noise Within Teen Monologue Festival! A celebration of classic theatre, the annual Teen Monologue Festival champions the legacy of the well-written play by inviting local teen actors to investigate and perform monologues from some of the most impactful plays ever written.
This competitive acting festival is open to students Grades 9-12, and from all submissions, 10 winners will be chosen to perform live on the A Noise Within Redmond Stage on Tuesday, November 3 at 6pm!
How to Submit
| Step 1: | Actors should begin by researching the classical theatre canon. Using the application form below, actors will then submit their proposed monologue playwright and play title by Monday, October 5. |
| Step 2: | Upon monologue approval, actors will receive instructions on how to submit their self-tape audition. Actors must submit their self-tape audition by Thursday, October 8. |
| Step 3: | 10 winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 20. |
Monologue Criteria
- Must be from a full-length play written before 2010. Monologues from musicals or standalone monologue books will not be accepted.
- Must be from a play that is widely recognized as a ‘classic’ or part of the classic theatre canon.
- Must be two to three minutes in length.
- Participants must read the entire play and be prepared to speak on the importance of the play and why the participant selected it.

Winner’s Circle
Winners will receive and are required to attend:
Sunday, November 1 – Monologue Festival Masterclass – 11am-5pm
Winners will participate in a Masterclass at the theatre with an ANW Resident Artist. Finalists will also receive a celebratory lunch before attending the 2pm performance of Come From Away. Attendance is mandatory.
Tuesday, November 3 – Winners Showcase – 6pm
Winners will perform live on the A Noise Within main stage in front of a panel of theatre professionals and a live audience on Tuesday, November 3 at 6pm.
Extras
Winners will also be honored on the A Noise Within website and across social media channels.
