Originally from Los Angeles, Lea Madda England (she/her) is an educator, arts advocate, and multidisciplinary theatre artist. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice Performance from Boston University and a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television. Madda has additionally trained in the Suzuki Method with the SCOT Company in Toga, Japan, as well as devised theatre-making techniques with Theatre ZAR and TR Warsaw in Poland.
As an educator, Madda enjoys working with students across all grade levels, including K-12 and college. She currently serves as Director of Education at A Noise Within Theatre, where she oversees the Student Matinee series, Summer With Shakespeare Theatre Camp, Youth Classes, Teen Leadership Council, and additional teacher and youth enrichment programming. During and previous to her time at A Noise Within, Madda has directed a number of student productions, including Shakespeare's Hamlet at the A Noise Within High School Intensive, La Gallienne and Friebus' Alice in Wonderland at the Archer School for Girls, Alice Birch's Revolt. she said. revolt again. at Theatre of Arts, Hollywood, and original devised works at the UCLA Acting and Performance Summer Institute. As an actor, Madda has performed on stages across North America. Her theater credits include Hand to God (Coachella Valley Rep), A Bright New Boise (Dezart Performs), The Sound of Music (Alaska CAP), Anne, A New Play (Museum of Tolerance), Queen of Califas (Los Angeles Theatre Center), As You Like It (the southland company) and Three Sisters (UCLA), among others. In 2016, Madda performed in an experimental film production, Distant Vision, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. She worked closely with Coppola to retell the story of his childhood, which was streamed live amongst 30 moving cameras.
Madda additionally holds a certificate in community counseling from the Southern California Counseling Center in Los Angeles.
