2018 LACAC Summer Internships

Education Intern

DESCRIPTION

The Education Intern at A Noise Within will support the production of the Summer with Shakespeare theatre camp for youth and research and develop study guides for classic plays, including coordinating an evening event for educators.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate has a passion for the performing arts and a desire to promote theatre education. Previous experience in performing arts and a liberal arts focus with demonstrated interest in classic literature and theatre is preferred. Previous experience working with children is a plus. The following are requirements for the position:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a team environment and individually
  • Research skills
  • Very familiar with Microsoft Office suite
  • Willingness to take initiative

Community Outreach and Group Sales Intern

DESCRIPTION

The Community Outreach and Group Sales Intern at A Noise Within, a classic repertory theatre in Pasadena, CA, will work closely with the Community Outreach and Group Sales Associate to identify and coordinate new partnership and groups sales opportunities with schools and community groups to generate new audiences for the classic holiday play, “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Community Outreach and Group Sales Intern should exhibit curiosity and enthusiasm for day-to-day activities. The ideal candidate will have an interest in theatre, literature, performing arts, and/or cultural institutions but it is not necessary to have prior experience. Some marketing or sales experience is recommended. The following are requirements of the position:

  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Research skills
  • Friendly, customer-service oriented
  • Comfortable working in a team environment and individually
  • Very familiar with Microsoft Office suite.

The internships are sponsored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. 179  undergraduate interns will participate in the program this year at 127 performing, presenting, and literary nonprofit arts organizations and municipal arts agencies throughout LA County. In addition to their full-time 10 week paid internship, interns will participate in educational events as part of the program, which is funded by the Getty Foundation. The educational events are designed to provide interns with a broader perspective of the vibrant arts and cultural landscape of the County.
