ONE. No one else in this region does what we do. A Noise Within is Southern California's only classical repertory theatre company, providing our patrons with a unique experience to engage with the rich language of classical literature.
TWO. We make educational outreach a priority. A Noise Within's extensive educational programs operate at capacity and serve 10,000 students annually, from sixth grade through college and from over 100 schools across 22 unified school districts in Southern California. Approximately 30% of the theatre's budget is dedicated to educational programming.
THREE. A loyal subscriber and supporter base. We have an 80% subscriber renewal rate (15% higher than the national average), and our supporters drive the progress and future of the theatre.
FOUR. A track record of fiscal responsibility. During its 17-year history, A Noise Within has always operated in the black.
FIVE. Artistic quality you can count on. The theatre's consistent dedication to quality has been rewarded with 26 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards, Los Angeles's highest honor for theatrical achievement.
SIX. We provide opportunities for educators. A Noise Within reaches out to Southern California teachers with textual analysis courses and creative workshops to help educators prepare successful lesson plans for their students. Our literary-minded patrons also enjoy a thriving literature club, The Scholar's Society.
SEVEN. We provide professional and artistic development for theatre professionals. A Noise Within is committed to the development of future theatre artists, offering a wide range of classes, teaching opportunities, and internships.
EIGHT. Our comprehensive study guides spur dialogue about classical theatre, visual arts, English language arts, and music. Included in each guide are California standards-compliant activities for educators and students that promote lively, active involvement with classical theatre.
NINE. An outstanding resident company of artists who are professionally trained to deliver the richness of the classical texts. A Noise Within is one of only a handful of theatres in the country that continues to employ a resident company of artists.
