YOUNG ACTOR'S WORKSHOP
Saturdays January 21-March 10, from 9:30-11:30am
Final presentation on Saturday March 10, from 9:30-11:30am
This exciting course is designed to give budding actors the tools to generate authentic connections to dramatic texts, and to create believable and emotionally rich characters. Young Actor's Workshop (YAW) covers the basic foundations of acting—including given circumstances, objectives, sense memory and recall, and how to effectively use improvisation and pantomime. Participants in YAW are assigned scene work and improvisational exercises, and the course culminates in a presentation of memorized monologues or scenes. YAW incorporates multiple age levels in order to provide the necessary structure in order to provide students the opportunity to learn from each others' work. This course is a foundation for the study of acting, and it is expected that the course will be repeated several times in order to deepen the understanding of acting technique and to delve more deeply into scene work.
Cost: $350 for one session - 8 weeks of classes, 2 hours per class
