Young Actor’s Workshop
For Ages 10-13
This enthralling course is designed to give budding actors the tools to generate authentic connections to dramatic texts, and to create believable and emotionally rich characters. Young Actor’s Workshop (YAW) covers the basic foundations of acting, including given circumstances, objectives, sense memory and recall, and how to effectively use improvisation and pantomime. Participants in YAW are assigned scene work and improvisational exercises, and the course culminates in a presentation of monologues, scenes, and acting exercises.
- The Adventurers group will be aimed towards our first time or relatively new students who want to learn the basics of acting techniques.
- Students looking for a more in-depth approach to the work and those who have taken the class previously will be best suited to the Discoverers group.
- Adventurers can graduate to Discoverers when they are ready to delve deeper into technique and material!
If you are uncertain which group will be the best fit for your student, please call the Education Department at 626.356.3104 for more information.
