8-week Residency

This program can be tailored in length

Who: Students grades K and up, led by ANW Theatre Artists.

What: An 8-week partnership program between students and A Noise Within. Students meet weekly or bi-weekly at their school with ANW Teaching Artists to learn and practice theatre workshops, ultimately staging their own abridged production of one of the shows in our repertory season.

Program Includes:

  • Weekly/bi-weekly workshops culminating in a final performance
    • Swords, movement, biomechanics, character workshops, text analysis can all be added in based on interest and play
    • Culminating event for students to share with friends, family, and other students
    • All students will attend a performance A Noise Within’s production of the play they studied (if applicable)

Objectives: Through this 8-week residency program, students will create a direct, lasting relationship with A Noise Within. By performing their own staged version, students will gain a deeper understanding of how theatrical texts are translated from the page to the stage, while forming new relationships to the text and having fun in the process! Additionally, attending and discussing a professional production of the same show at A Noise Within will strengthen students’ critical and analytical skills while offering greater insight into the text.
