Education
A Noise Within's education programs serve approximately 10,000 students annually throughout Southern California, providing a unique opportunity for students to experience the classic, dramatic literature they study in the classroom in its intended form: a live performance in the theatre.
Classics Live! is our program for school audiences. Through Classics Live!, we offer a contemporary context for classical literature through student attendance at performances, artist workshops in the classroom and California standards-compliant Study Guides, making the material accessible to modern audiences. These programs are effective not only in exposing young people to the performing arts, but also-- as all productions at A Noise Within are based in classical literature-- in increasing student literacy. Teachers may arrange to preview our shows at no charge through our Tickets For Teachers program, in order to prepare their students for their experience.
Audience enrichment programs such as our Scholar's Society allow lifelong learners the opportunity to delve into the historical, social, political, and artistic significance of the works presented onstage. Detailed audience study guides are available to enrich the theatergoing experience.
A Noise Within is also home to an Actor Training Academy with year-round classes for actors of all ages, including our popular Summer With Shakespeare camp.
We offer a dynamic Professional Internship Program for developing theatre artists in the areas of acting, directing, and production. Internships are offered in the fall or spring semesters, and are extended by audition.
